REP. LONGORIA NAMED TO APPROPRIATIONS SUB-COMMITTEES: GENERAL GOVERNMENT AND VICE-CHAIRMAN OF BUDGET TRANSPARENCY AND REFORM

AUSTIN- This morning,  the House Committee on Appropriations Chairman Jim Pitts announced sub-committee appointments for members. Representative Oscar Longoria was named to the sub-committee on General Government and Vice-Chairman of the newly created Budget Transparency and Reform sub-committee.

 

“It is already a great honor to be on the Appropriations Committee, and I am very pleased that Chairman Pitts has appointed me Vice-Chairman of the new Budget Transparency and Reform sub-committee,” said Longoria. “I am content with both assignments and look forward to working diligently on the issues that will be brought before these sub-committees.”

 

The General Government sub-committee will review Articles 1, 4, and 5 of the House Appropriations Bill, which oversees major state agencies such as: the Attorney General’s Office, Comptroller’s’ Office, and Employees Retirement System (ERS), to name a few.  Articles 4 and 5 cover Judiciary and Public Safety.

 

Newly created, the sub-committee on Budget Transparency and Reform, was formed to review General Revenue dedicated bills and constitutional spending limit bills, which are referred to the committee.
