It was an honor to recognize Keily Guzman and her parents on the House Floor today! Keily is La Joya ISD`s first powerlifting state champion!
On her way to the win, she broke the state record in squat (425 pounds) and total lift (1,005 pounds). Congratulations, Keily!

Passing bills on a Saturday is a great end to a productive week!
This week I passed 4 bills out of the House and sent 1 bill to the Governor for signing!
I also hosted a class from CCA McAllen here at the Capitol!

Great end to the week! After 5 committee hearings, 2 bills passed out of the House, and dozens of visitors from the Valley, Friday ended with my first bill passed this session!
SB 1514, the companion to my HB 4279, updates the Business Organizations Code to give Texas companies an advantage over those based out of state. On to the Governor!

Leslie is the back-to-back state women`s powerlifting champ! She broke personal records in bench, squat, and deadlift - all on her way to lifting over 1,000 pounds. Keep making us proud!

Back in Austin after a productive last week! We had a marathon 18 hour hearing, I passed another 5 bills out of committee, and hosted the Brownsville ISD board and some wonderful students from the Valley!

Big day in committee as we heard important bills that will positively impact our state!
HB4, the Data Privacy and Security Act, protects Texans` data rights, while HB 471 protects the health and safety of our first responders when injured on the job.
I look forward to continuing the work to make Texas the best state in the country for business.

It was insightful to hear from both TEA and the Texas School Safety Center.
